PROFILE
Liz’s work is influenced by natural surroundings both in her local environment and also when visiting other areas such as the coast. She walks frequently and observes the landscape and details carefully. Walking along the Hampshire and Dorset coast has provided her with many ideas for her textiles. She expresses her concern for coastal erosion and rising sea levels through her work.
The last two years has had an impact on everyone. An increased awareness of environmental issues and horror at the vast amount of waste has changed ideas. As a maker Liz has decided not to buy any new materials but to use up what she has collected over the years. This has been her practice during the pandemic which she intends to continue. It has been stimulating and has led to some interesting artistic decisions which have resulted in making work out of her usual comfort zone.
